Riddikulus Reread Part 2: Sophie and Anjali reread Harry Potter

Welcome back to another Harry Potter episode! In episode 29, Riddikulus Reread Part 1, we began our chat about our recent reread of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. There were a lot of questions raised, some events which had been entirely forgotten, and even a conspiracy theory thrown in for good luck. Make sure you head on back to have a listen!  Today we are continuing on with our reactions from our Harry Potter reread, and we dive straight back in where we left, with Halloween, trolls in the dungeons, and the Golden Trio finally coming together.

No Currently Reading for this episode of Rants and Reviews. Instead we just dive straight back into Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Main feature

(00:30) ‘I wish it were easy to make life-long friends just from a mountain troll.” Sophie kicks off the episode as we start the chapter with the mountain troll in the dungeon.

(02:20) Anjali wonders what a tropical-themed party at Hogwarts would be like, and we talk about the possibility of customising school robes.

(05:00) Quidditch is next up in our chat, and Anjali wishes Lee Jordan was in the books more, and in the movies. He just sort of disappears, or isn’t really around the place that much, and that’s really sad, because he’s a fantastic character.

(07:30) What Quidditch position would you guys play? Anjali reckons she’d be a good Seeker, mostly because she’s good at noticing things so it would be the most suitable position, however being a Beater would be fun and something that she could step in for if need be. Sophie thinks she’d be a good Keeper, due to the fact that she used to go in goal for her brother growing up.

"Although to be honest," says Sophie, “I’d be in the crowd supporting coz I hate sports.”

(09:50) It’s Christmas time! Who doesn’t love the idea of Hogwarts at Christmastime?! Despite the fact that we're in the Christmas chapter, we spend a bunch of time talking about the giant squid …

(17:10) The Restricted Section in the library is literally just blocked by a rope. Sophie has thoughts.

(20:58) Possibly one of our favourite sections on a Harry Potter episode: picture this, Snape side-saddle on a broom. This conversation perhaps goes on way longer than it should. It’s a whole thing. Enjoy.

(26:50) “I had a thought about Filch…”

(29:00) Anjali wants a side-story about Charlie and his friends in Romania. Like big time. Please, Rowling, write this for us. “Charlie Weasley and the Dragons of Romania”.

(35:35) Exams in the Wizarding World are slightly confusing and we chat about what they might be getting up to while waiting for their exam results … but also get confused about the fact they have to wait for their exam results …

(37:34) A brief discussion about the pronunciation of Stephen Fry’s audiobook versions, and how he says ‘Firenze’. So fancy sounding … We liken our new fancy centaur character to the wonderful Jonathan Van Ness, and all is right in the world.

(43:00) We round off the episode with Harry in the hospital and have way too many things to say about it, and also the toilet seat.
