Main feature
(08:50) We’re a little later starting our main feature for this episode, but we get straight into chatting about how we actually don’t read that many creepy stories. There are few that we have read over the years that are have scary elements, but not specifically books in the horror genre.(13:40) Sophie decides she’ll give IT by Stephen King a go, and Anjali runs for the hills; clowns? No thank you.
(16:15) A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket is our first discussion book series. There’s so many creepy things that happen throughout the entire series that we had to chat about. Find out which one of us has read up to book 10, missed books 11 and 12, but managed to read 13.
(19:35) We completely disagree on whether the 2004 movie adaption is better or worse than the more recent Netflix show. Tune in to find out which one of us thinks the movie trumps the show!
(29.35) We interrupt this programme to chat about Halloween costumes; which ones have been our best in the past and if we were dressing up this year.
(35.25) Finally we get to our second discussion series, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, by Ransom Riggs. Neither of us have gotten past book one, however we both really enjoyed the idea of the photos and the peculiar traits of the children.
(36:45) Sophie struggles. Listen in. Have a laugh.
(38:10) Quick discussion about the movie version, and how some of the characters have been changed around.
(39:35) If you had a peculiar trait, what would you have? Flight? Invisibility? Talking to animals? Let us know what you would have, were you a Peculiar.
(44.35) Putting the main books aside, we have a chat about other supernatural and creepy creatures in books, our favourites to read, ones we don’t really enjoy or haven’t read books with them in it. Anjali also tries to explain the creatures in Justin Cronin’s The Passage, and does a terrible job.
The episode ends with us chatting about Cassandra Clare’s multiple series, as well as a few other books we’re meaning to pick in the near future.
